  3. from his naval rank. He resigned from the
  4. Royal Navy in 1830 after the success of his
  5. first novel, Frank Mildmay. He wrote a number
  6. of popular adventure stories, including Peter
  7. Simple 1834, Mr Midshipman Easy 1836, and a
  8. series of children's books, of which the best
  9. known is Children of the New Forest 1847.
